Appearance: Look to your left. See the picture? There you have it! A tiny boy - not quite four feet - with big purple eyes and the iconic spiked, highlighted black hair and golden bangs. But obviously his wardrobe is different. He's years off from high school, so he's not to be spotted in a uniform! Instead he tends to run around in shorts and a green windbreaker. Oh, and he rarely goes anywhere without carting his Kuriboh ~~doll~~ ball and purple backpack - holding games and his grandfather's momento - along with him.

History: Upwords is a pre-series Yuugi, thus his back story's the one given by canon. Unfortunately, there isn't a lot given by canon! So this is what a nine-year-old Yuugi logically might be like, given what we're told.

Currently in his second year, Yuugi is already showing the nonacademic inclinations that will have his mother chasing him with ladles as a teen. He has little interest in school, bored and struggling with most subjects, completely failing at sports, and already getting targeted for teasing, if not yet actual bullying. The only thing he likes about it is a girl in his class - Mazaki Anzu. It's only been a few months, but he's convinced he's made a friend for life!

On the home front, Yuugi is going through some upheavals ~~that have nothing to do with getting sucked into the DR~~. His father was always a hard worker and thus out of the house a lot. He used to spend at least Sundays at home, but now he's become a manager in a corporation out of town, and he is unable to even commute. So, Yuugi's family has shrunk down to his mother and grandfather. This isn't too horrible, since he's still close to his mother - who has yet to really fear for her son's future - and he already looks up to his grandfather. The loss of his parent's presence is still a sore spot, but spending more time playing games with his grandfather helps.

Oh, the Puzzle? He's got it - or the pieces to it, since Sugoroku passed it on to him only two years ago. He's just now making a real crack at it, but without intervention it'll still take another six years to solve!
